Ms. Zagroba has served as the associate executive director of AAEM since April of 2019. Prior to that, she served as the executive director of the Women’s Dermatologic Society, executive director of the Clinical Immunology Society, and in various positions in the hospitality industry. Ms. Zagroba will assume the role of Kay Whalen, MBA CAE who has
served in this role since 1996. Ms. Whalen will continue to serve AAEM as executive director emeritus/consulting partner. AAEM is a membership organization with over 8,000 members and an annual budget of almost $3,000,000 and is managed by Executive Director, Inc. (EDI) an association management company specializing in medical organizations.
Ms. Zagroba stated, “I look forward to serve AAEM in this new role and to work with its leadership to continue to be the champion of the emergency physician.”

Dr. Lisa Moreno, who will begin her term as president of AAEM on June 2, 2020 expressed her support of this change. “I look forward to continuing to work with Ms. Zagroba in her new role as we move the work of AAEM forward. I also thank Ms. Whalen for her many years of service to AAEM.”
